"Thanks for playing great drums with us in Nashville. We have been lucky enough to work with drummers like Purdie, Aronoff and Pelton, so we know how it feels to work with a good player. Maybe we'll do it again soon?"
Peg Jordan
Cincinnati-based keyboardist
"Dan is a consummate professional. He is versatile, comes up with good suggestions and ideas, and always puts out the best. Highly recommended!"
Bronwyn Davies-Mason

"Dan has played drums and percussion for me on my CD. He's a wonderful musician and a pleasure to work with. He was able to pick up even difficult rhythms quickly, and also came up with his own ideas. He tirelessly went through several takes in order to perfect each part. He is also generous and humble as a person."
Tom Bredesden
Nashville-based recording artist and leader of the Nashville Beatles
"Dan Walzer, in addition to being an excellent musician, is very easygoing and remarkably tolerant of the sort of crap that primadonnas like me subject him to."

"Dan is The Drummer for my new project. His playing is full of perfect balances between energy and subtlety, contemporary stylings and traditional knowledge, knowing when to fill in the spaces and knowing when to let the spaces do their own talking. Plus Dan's mere presence is so comfortable and fun...I enjoy depending on his expertise, because I know he wants more than anything to serve my songs. I don't want to lose Dan to another musician, but I will be willing to "lend him out" as long as he won't be gone too long...!"

"Dan Walzer is a very unique and creative individual who is extremely passionate about his music. He dedicates himself to reaching the goals that he has set for the future of his career. After working with him for just a few months, I gained a respect for him for knowing exactly who he is and what he stands for. No matter how great his accomplishments are, Dan will never become complacent. He will always strive to be better!"

"Dan Walzer is truly a pleasure to work with. He has a warmth and kindness that is truly reflected in his music. I also admire his passion for life and his pursuit for growth. I look forward to many more opportunities to work with not only a great musician, but a great person."

"I worked with Dan back in the late 90s on one of the more interesting projects I've ever undertaken. A 7-piece world-folk-prog-rock outfit called Collins Gate. He came on board just when we had grown to the point of evolution, and he definitely got thrown some curves that your standard jazz student would have balked at. Odd time signatures, meandering moods, blistering instrumental breaks, all done with an underlying gentle soul. Dan was able to take the mass of influences and distill out a fluid foundation. Our recording sessions were some of the most succinct I've ever had the pleasure to be part of, whether in the makeshift 'studio in the country' we built south of E-town KY, or up in Cincinnati where the difference in the speed of life gave other energy to the recordings. Some of those recordings are still among my favorites. After that project wrapped up we collaborated on a couple of instrumental pieces, and he lent his talents to the next project I assembled, a more mainstream but still thoughtful set of recordings that were again knocked out in record fashion. At the end of the day Dan was professional and direct with his approach, making my life a few million times simpler. For that I'll always dig the dude."

"Dan joined my electronic duo, Elation, on stage for 2 performances adding
a live element we had never been able to offer the audience - drums!
It was a challenge for us all but the results were wonderful. Dan brought
to the table a jazzy style that gave our performances the element needed for
a complete circle. It is very hard to convey electronic/computer music
live on stage and adding live instruments, such as drums, is a difficult task.
Our transition was smooth and the crowd loved it. "

"When I needed someone to record the drum tracks for my CD, I didn't
know where to look. Fortunately, my recording engineer knew Dan Walzer.
Never having had people play my music for a recording before, I was a little
nervous. I worried, "What if this guy isn't easy to get along with?
What if he doesn't listen to my wishes and his ego takes over?"
I had heard he was good, and was afraid he would flaunt that. After
spending literally just a few minutes with Dan, all of these fears were gone.
Dan is down-to earth, listens to your wishes, and is very patient. He
also comes very prepared, with charts, ideas, etc. Not only that, he
has a good sense of knowing what type of music needs what type of drum playing;
I barely had to direct him at all! It's obvious Dan has had formal training,
but knows how to make it sound like a real drummer and not a drum machine.
I feel lucky to have Dan on my CD and hope once released, it will prove his
skill. I would recommend him to anyone for any project. Thanks
again Dan!"

"...one of the few bandleaders that allows musicians playing with him
to be themselves. Simply put, not too many people are like that.
The music is as honest an expression of him as it could be, another rarity..."

"Dan Walzer is one of the most intuitive musicians
I have ever played and
recorded with. His eclectic and extensive style backgrounds yield artistry
in percussion that flow into all the projects he works on. He always
takes
things up a notch for all those that play with him. There is life in
his
playing. Dan has been solid as a session musician and in live performances
and he just keeps getting better all the time. It is easy to see that
he
loves what he does."

"Dan is the cat's meow, and my first choice for studio drummers.
He nails
it in 3 takes or less every time. I've worked with a lot of musicians,
and
Dan definitely is one of the best. He's a true professional in
every aspect
of the field of drums... and he's not a bad dude to hang out with
once in a
while either!"

"Most people do favors for friends, but Dan is the kind of guy who helps
out
perfect strangers as well. Dan volunteered his talents for free
as a
percussionist for the recording of Janestory's first CD, having not met
anyone in the band. We were really impressed not only by his incredible
rhythmic and improvisational skills, but felt like he immediately grooved
with our personalities. Dan was great to work with -- very flexible
and
patient -- and we are looking forward to recording with him again :)"

"There is nothing quite like getting together for the occasional
"let's
record whatever happens" session and seeing it turn into a portion of
an
album. Some of the wildest, most creative moments my studio has
seen
happened during the sessions which created parts of "So Many Dreams..." I
have had nothing but a great time working with Dan and I sincerely hope the
concept behind these tracks is something that continues in future releases,
and something that I'll be able to be involved in again!"
